How did religion influence every aspect of ancient Egyptian life?
Religion influenced every aspect of Egyptian life because it formed their beliefs on multiple categories. The Egyptians relied that Re and Hapi, the sun god and the river god, would help grow their crops. The Egyptians also believed that once a person died they would go to an afterlife. Religion also affected what the Egyptians thought of their pharaohs. The Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was the son of Re which allowed the pharaoh to have ultimate control.
What are 3-5 characteristics of the ancient Egyptian religion/belief system?
1. The Egyptians believed that the pharaoh would enjoy an afterlife after he/she died.
2. The Egyptians believed that Osiris (a god) helped them start their lifestyle. (McTighe)
3. Egyptians mummified their pharaoh because they believed that was the only way that he/she could make it to the afterlife.
Fun Fact: Poor people had their mummies buried in sand while rich people had their mummies buried in tombs!

Pyramids were built to honor Egypt's pharaohs. The pyramids were built with thousands of Egyptians as manual labor. The pyramid was used to keep the pharaoh safe after he died and the Egyptians thought that the pharaoh would be happier in the afterlife if he had personal belongings.
